Calendar days, not hours
We subtract normalized Gregorian calendar dates, so a daylight saving time change does not add or remove a day. January 1 to January 2 is 1 day; the same date gives 0 days. February 28, 2024 to March 1, 2024 is 2 days, because 2024 is a leap year.
Absolute or signed difference
The default absolute difference is always zero or positive. Signed difference means end date minus start date: reversing a two-day span gives −2 days. The count measures day steps, not a count including both date labels; there is no extra “include end date” adjustment.
Supported dates & limits
Dates from 0001-01-01 to 9999-12-31 use the proleptic Gregorian calendar. The date picker may display your browser’s local format, but values are treated as calendar dates without a time zone. Invalid dates are rejected. No business-day, holiday, working-hour or historical calendar-reform calculation is included.
